The Tortilla Revolution: In 18th-Century Mexican Miners Invented the Taco!
Fun Facts
Aztecs ate "tlaxcalli" (corn tortillas) as early as 10,000 BC. Spanish conquistadors called them "tortillas" ("little cakes"). Miners used tortillas to wrap gunpowder charges (called "tacos de minero") till 1700s. Then realized they could stuff them with beans, meat, and salsa instead. Thus, the taco was born.
